Is time to reconsider the definition of “chronic” migraine?

Should chronic migraine (CM) be considered a separate entity from episodic migraine (EM)? At the AHS 2021 virtual conference, experts argued for and against considering CM as a separate entity.

Dr David Dodick of the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA, argued for keeping CM separate. “Compared with EM, CM is associated with increased disability, comorbidity, social burden, healthcare resource utilization, and poor quality of life,” he said.
