New findings presented at AES 2021 suggest there may be differences in early EEG patterns that could help identify patients who develop early and late post-stroke seizures.
About 10% of stroke patients will develop seizures, with post-stroke seizures more common in the first 2 weeks after the event (and especially in the first 24 hours). Late post-stroke seizures, occurring after 2 weeks, are less common although they have a higher recurrence rate.
